I.             Basic Functions:

Designs and gives information literacy classes through the Library Instruction program; plans and conducts outreach activities to students and faculty. Provides in-depth reference service and guides library users in identifying, retrieving, and evaluating information in all formats. Serves as a subject librarian for a number of humanities and social sciences departments. Assesses users' needs and participates in the evaluation and improvement of instruction and research services. Keeps up to date with latest professional developments in the field, recommends and applies change as appropriate

II.           Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited University; Or PhD or Master's degree in a social sciences or humanities discipline.

Demonstrated knowledge of the information-seeking and use behaviors, structure of knowledge, primary research tools, publishers and vendors, and the research and teaching approaches in social sciences and humanities disciplines.

Demonstrated experience in assessing services and resources, including evaluating and selecting resources and assessing their effectiveness in meeting users' needs.

Excellent presentation and public speaking skills. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written; strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.

Service oriented, professional, creative, and takes initiative.

Experience or training in developing online resources such as tutorials, surveys, and research guides. PREFRRED

Experience with scholarly communication tools, thesis or manuscript editing, and/or using bibliographic management software (e.g., RefWorks, EndNote, Connotea, Zotero). PREFRRED

Able to initiate and develop library oriented Web 2.0 applications, mobile library services, social media, and other supporting digital initiatives. PREFRRED
